55-60 inch 4k tv in the next few months
So I'm looking to buy a new tv in the next few months, I'm not in a rush but for the right deal I could buy one now. I'm looking to get something 55-60 and budget I'd like to stay around $1500. Any recommendations? I'm hoping to get something I can occasionally hook my desktop up to for gaming as well.
Hello there Kylana,
So your main considerations are movies and gaming with an additional focus on reasonable price? Fortunately if your budget is in the $1500 range, there are actually quite a few very good 4K TVs available.
First of all a quick note on the gaming aspect: The ideal flexibility for connecting your TV to a PC for gamming at either upscaled HD or 4K would be a DisplayPort 1.2 connection. Unfortunately, the only 4K UHD TV I can think of right now which comes with DP is the truly excellent Panasonic AX900,
unfortunately, this model still isn't very cheap, costing more than a couple thousand and it's also rather difficult to buy.
Fortunately however, if you have one of Nvidia's or even (I believe) AMD's newer GPUs and especially those which are 4K friendly, then their HDMI 2.0 connections will work well for your 4K TV's HDMI 2.0 for the sake of gaming at close to 60Hz.
As for specific models: I mainly recommend Vizio's M-Series 4K TVs and Some of Sony or Samsung's lower prices Bravia and SUHD TVs respectively. One good example is the XBRX810C from Sony. The 65 inch model will cost roughly within your budget and offers some superb specs:
Also, for now, please take a look a these three guides of ours. The second one is for Black Friday deals and the third for Cyber Monday deals but even though the deals are finished, the TVs described are some great possible choices, and they are mostly very affordable models:
